Barton Carey entered the custom-made medical support market after recognizing the necessity for a more responsive attitude toward the changing environment of hospitals, physicians, therapists, pharmacies and ultimately patients. With the objective of improving current industry standards, along with our philosophy of meeting the needs of patients, we believe in making a positive impact on others. We concentrated our efforts toward creating a more effective customer service in a manner we knew could and should be provided, by understanding that being of service first, we stand out from our competitors.

John H. Mays, founder of Barton-Carey, invented and patented a measuring device to measure hands "Accufast II".  He was also responsible to introduce colored garments.  For over 30 years prior to the introduction of colors, patients were deprived of color.  These colors have revolutionized the burn garment industry.  It took Barton-Carey to make it happen.

In February 2021, our founder passed away.  The company was then turned over to his two sons John Barton Mays and Michael Carey Mays.  John Barton has worked along side his father for over 30 years, while Michael Carey has over 30 years of manufacturing experience with Scherring Plough.  They have continued on with their fathers' philosophies and core values.
